Internal Medicine — Newton & Meridian, MS

Our Services

Board-certified internal medicine for adults — from routine prevention to long-term chronic disease management. Dr. Olaleye and the PHCM team provide physician-led, relationship-centered care at two convenient Central Mississippi locations.

Internal Medicine

The foundation of everything we do at PHCM — comprehensive, physician-led adult primary care.

Internal medicine is the specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult disease. Dr. Olaleye is board certified in Internal Medicine and brings approximately two decades of clinical experience to every patient encounter. Whether you are managing a chronic condition, due for a wellness exam, or dealing with a new concern, internal medicine is where your care begins and stays coordinated.

What We Offer

New Patient Evaluations

A thorough first visit covering your complete medical history, current medications, family history, lifestyle factors, and health goals — establishing the foundation for ongoing care.

Established Patient Follow-Up

Regular follow-up visits to review labs, adjust treatment plans, monitor chronic conditions, and address new concerns as they arise.

Acute Illness & Sick Visits

Evaluation and treatment of new or worsening symptoms — including infections, respiratory illness, and other acute concerns — based on appointment availability.

Medication Management

Ongoing medication review, reconciliation, monitoring, and education to ensure treatment plans remain safe, effective, and aligned with your health goals.

Laboratory Interpretation

Review and explanation of blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic results — with clear communication about what findings mean for your care.

Specialist Referral Coordination

When specialist care is needed, Dr. Olaleye coordinates referrals and ensures your primary care record reflects the full picture of your health.

Why It Matters

Internal medicine is not just about treating illness — it is about knowing the whole patient. Continuity with the same physician means your doctor understands your history, your medications, and your goals. That relationship is the foundation of good primary care. PHCM evaluates and manages many common adult medical conditions. Depending on the complexity of the condition, patients may also be referred to an appropriate specialist for consultation or co-management.

Chronic Disease Management

Long-term, physician-supervised care for conditions that require consistent monitoring, medication management, and lifestyle support.

Chronic conditions do not resolve after a single visit — they require an ongoing relationship with a physician who understands your history and adjusts your care plan as your health evolves. Dr. Olaleye specializes in managing the complex, often overlapping chronic conditions that affect adults in Central Mississippi.

What We Offer

Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2 & Prediabetes)

Comprehensive diabetes management including A1C monitoring, medication management (oral agents, insulin, GLP-1 agonists), lifestyle counseling, and coordination of diabetes-related care such as eye exams and podiatry.

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

Evaluation and ongoing management of high blood pressure — including medication review, lifestyle recommendations, home monitoring guidance, and monitoring for end-organ effects on the heart, kidneys, and eyes.

High Cholesterol & Hyperlipidemia

Lipid panel review, cardiovascular risk assessment, dietary counseling, and medication management for elevated cholesterol and triglycerides — with a focus on long-term heart health.

Thyroid Disease

Evaluation and management of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid nodules — including TSH and free T4 monitoring, medication adjustment, and referral coordination when indicated.

COPD & Chronic Lung Disease

Diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease — including inhaler therapy selection, exacerbation prevention, and pulmonary rehabilitation referral when appropriate.

Asthma

Asthma evaluation, controller and rescue medication management, trigger identification, and written action plan development for adult patients.

Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome

Physician-guided evaluation and management of obesity and metabolic syndrome — addressing the underlying drivers of weight gain and metabolic dysfunction through a comprehensive, individualized approach.

Kidney Disease (CKD)

Monitoring and management of chronic kidney disease — including lab surveillance, blood pressure optimization, medication review for nephrotoxic agents, and nephrology referral coordination.

Heart Disease Risk Management

Cardiovascular risk stratification and preventive management — including lipid optimization, blood pressure control, diabetes management, and lifestyle counseling to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Anemia & Blood Disorders

Evaluation of anemia and common blood disorders — including iron deficiency, B12 deficiency, and anemia of chronic disease — with appropriate workup and treatment.

Why It Matters

Managing a chronic condition well requires more than a prescription — it requires a physician who tracks your progress over time, adjusts your plan when things change, and helps you understand what your numbers mean. That is what PHCM is built to provide. PHCM evaluates and manages many common adult medical conditions. Depending on the complexity of the condition, patients may also be referred to an appropriate specialist for consultation or co-management.

Preventive & Routine Care

Scheduled visits and evaluations designed to keep you healthy, catch problems early, and meet regulatory or employment requirements.

Preventive care is one of the most valuable investments you can make in your long-term health. Regular wellness exams allow Dr. Olaleye to identify risk factors before they become problems, update immunizations, review medications, and build a proactive health plan tailored to your age, history, and lifestyle.

What We Offer

Annual Wellness Exams

Comprehensive yearly health evaluations covering vitals, medications, screenings, immunization review, and personalized preventive recommendations — for patients of all ages.

Medicare Annual Wellness Visits (AWV)

The Medicare Annual Wellness Visit is a covered benefit focused on health risk assessment, preventive planning, advance care planning, and care coordination for Medicare patients. Distinct from a standard physical, the AWV is designed to help Medicare beneficiaries stay ahead of health risks.

Preventive Screenings & Immunizations

Age- and risk-appropriate cancer screenings, cardiovascular risk assessments, diabetes screening, and immunization review — including flu, pneumonia, shingles, and other recommended vaccines.

Lifestyle & Risk Factor Counseling

Guidance on nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, alcohol use, and other modifiable risk factors — integrated into every wellness visit.

DOT Physicals

Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations for commercial drivers requiring a valid medical certificate to operate a commercial motor vehicle. Coming soon — call (601) 357-5118 to inquire about availability.

Sports Physicals

Pre-participation physical evaluations (PPE) for student athletes and adults returning to physical activity — assessing cardiovascular fitness, musculoskeletal health, and identifying potential concerns.

Why It Matters

Most serious health conditions — heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, certain cancers — develop gradually and are far more manageable when caught early. Annual wellness visits are not just a formality; they are a clinical opportunity to stay ahead of what matters most.

Women's Health

Internal medicine care addressing the health concerns and conditions that disproportionately affect women — geared specifically toward adult internal medicine.

Women's health at PHCM is rooted in internal medicine — meaning Dr. Olaleye addresses the full spectrum of adult health concerns with an understanding of how conditions present differently in women, how hormonal factors influence chronic disease, and how preventive care needs evolve across a woman's life. This is not a gynecology practice; care is focused on internal medicine conditions as they relate to women's health.

What We Offer

Well-Woman Exams

Annual well-woman evaluations covering general health, preventive screenings, medication review, and a discussion of any concerns — coordinated with gynecologic care as appropriate.

Hormonal Health & Menopause

Evaluation and management of hormonal concerns including perimenopause and menopause — addressing symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disruption, mood changes, and metabolic shifts.

Cardiovascular Risk in Women

Women experience heart disease differently than men — with different symptoms, risk factors, and presentations. Dr. Olaleye addresses cardiovascular risk with a gender-informed approach.

Thyroid Disease

Thyroid disorders are significantly more common in women. PHCM provides thorough evaluation and ongoing management of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid nodules.

Bone Health & Osteoporosis

Bone density evaluation, osteoporosis screening, calcium and vitamin D assessment, and management of osteoporosis — particularly important for postmenopausal women.

Diabetes & Metabolic Health in Women

Diabetes management with attention to how metabolic conditions present and progress in women — including the impact of hormonal changes on blood sugar control.

Preventive Screenings

Age-appropriate cancer screenings, cardiovascular risk assessments, and immunizations — coordinated and tracked as part of your ongoing care at PHCM.

Mental Health Screening

Screening for depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns as part of routine care — with referral coordination when additional support is needed.

Why It Matters

Women's health is not a separate specialty — it is internal medicine practiced with an understanding of how biology, hormones, and life stage shape health. At PHCM, women receive the same physician-led, relationship-centered care as every patient. PHCM evaluates and manages many common adult medical conditions. Depending on the complexity of the condition, patients may also be referred to an appropriate specialist for consultation or co-management.

Men's Health

Preventive care and chronic disease management tailored to the health concerns and conditions that most commonly affect men.

Men are statistically less likely to seek preventive care — and more likely to present with advanced disease as a result. At PHCM, Dr. Olaleye provides straightforward, judgment-free care designed to help men stay ahead of the conditions that most commonly affect them, from cardiovascular disease to metabolic health.

What We Offer

Annual Wellness Exams for Men

Comprehensive yearly evaluations covering vitals, labs, medications, age-appropriate screenings, and a candid discussion of health goals and concerns.

Cardiovascular Risk Assessment

Men face elevated cardiovascular risk earlier than women. PHCM evaluates blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, weight, and lifestyle factors to build a proactive heart health plan.

Diabetes & Prediabetes

Screening, diagnosis, and management of Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes — with attention to the lifestyle and metabolic factors that drive insulin resistance in men.

Hypertension Management

High blood pressure is one of the most common and undertreated conditions in men. PHCM provides ongoing monitoring, medication management, and lifestyle counseling.

Weight & Metabolic Health

Physician-guided evaluation of weight, body composition, and metabolic health — addressing the root causes of weight gain and metabolic dysfunction rather than surface-level solutions.

Testosterone & Hormonal Concerns

Evaluation of symptoms associated with low testosterone — including fatigue, low libido, mood changes, and decreased muscle mass — with appropriate lab workup and management.

Prostate Health Screening

Age-appropriate PSA screening and prostate health discussions — coordinated with urology when indicated.

DOT & Occupational Physicals

DOT physical examinations for commercial drivers and occupational physicals for employment or regulatory requirements.

Why It Matters

The most common reason men do not get care is that they do not make the appointment. At PHCM, the goal is straightforward: give men a physician they trust, a practice that respects their time, and a care plan that actually fits their life.

Physician-Guided Weight Management

Medical weight management that addresses the biology, not just the behavior — led by a physician board certified in both Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine.

Weight is not simply a matter of willpower. It is influenced by genetics, hormones, medications, sleep, stress, chronic disease, and metabolic function. Dr. Olaleye is board certified in Obesity Medicine — a specialty dedicated to the medical evaluation and treatment of obesity — and brings that expertise to every weight management patient at PHCM.

What We Offer

Comprehensive Medical Evaluation

A thorough evaluation of your health history, current medications, metabolic labs, and contributing factors — identifying the medical drivers of weight gain before building a treatment plan.

Metabolic & Laboratory Assessment

Blood work to evaluate thyroid function, insulin resistance, blood sugar, lipids, and other metabolic markers that influence weight and body composition.

Nutrition Education & Counseling

Evidence-based nutrition guidance tailored to your metabolic profile, health conditions, and realistic lifestyle — not generic diet plans.

Physical Activity Recommendations

Individualized activity guidance based on your current fitness level, physical limitations, and health goals — with a focus on sustainable habits.

GLP-1 & Prescription Treatment

When medically appropriate, Dr. Olaleye may prescribe FDA-approved weight management medications — including GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide and tirzepatide — as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Ongoing Monitoring & Adjustment

Regular follow-up to track progress, adjust medications, review labs, and ensure your plan continues to work as your health evolves.

The Metabolic Reset™ Partnership

Patients seeking a more structured branded wellness experience may also explore The Metabolic Reset™ at The Skin Parlor™ — a partner program offering a comprehensive metabolic wellness approach.

Why It Matters

Obesity Medicine is a recognized medical specialty for a reason — weight management is complex, and it requires a physician who understands the biology. At PHCM, weight management is not an add-on service. It is a core part of what Dr. Olaleye does.
